Gulliver can even help you with Last Minute tours throughout Ecuador, or reserving a cruise to the Galapagos Islands.

Ecuador has much to offer its visitors: very diverse climatic zones spread over a relatively small area easily accessible from Quito, diverse indigenous populations,  and impressive historic city centers.

Every one of Gulliver's Ecuador tours offers high-quality, personalized service, competitive prices, high standards in safety procedures as well as professional, qualified guides. Gulliver prides itself in flexibility and offering vacations to Ecuador that meet your individual needs, and we hope you will discuss with us any tour options that interest you.  Thank you for choosing us, and we wish you an enjoyable tour of Ecuador.

Hosteria_PapaGayoHosteria-Papagayo is a beautiful hosteria (hotel), one hour south of Quito by bus, close to the town of Machachi. It offers superb views, access to eight different volcanoes, including climbing Cotopaxi volcano, excellent mountain biking trails, daily farm activities, animals, events, free internet, BBQs, and a fantastic home-cooked menu prepared by a professionally-trained International chef.

The rooms are all colorful and comfortable, with either a private or a shared bathroom. Alternatively, if you love the outdoors, you can pitch a tent in our camping area.

We operate our Ecuador Tours from this base, as it provides not only a perfect atmosphere in which to relax, but also offers an ideal place to acclimatize, at 3,200 meters, before a climb of Cotopaxi or Chimborazo, or a hike to nearbly volcanoes.

Climb Cotopaxi Volcano, EcuadorClimb Ecuador's Highest Peaks

Climbing Cotopaxi
, at at 5897m (19,348ft) is a must-do for all mountaineers coming to Ecuador to climb. Even as one of the world's highest active volcanoes, it's a relatively easy climb and numerous climbers have set their personal altitude records climbing Cotopaxi. An experienced guide is required to summit Cotopaxi, and we work with the best mountain guides in Ecuador.

There is also spectacular trekking, hiking and mountain biking in Cotopaxi National Park.  We offer Cotopaxi day tours with all these activities. Contact us to check availability and departure dates.

Chimborazo, at 6,310 meters (20,703 feet), is not only Ecuador's highest peak, it's is the planet's highest mountain above the Earth's center, nearly 2km further the center of the Earth than Everest! Climbing Chimborazo is a similar climb to Cotopaxi but longer and more strenuous.

Aclimatization is the key to a rewarding summit attempt in Ecuador. Consider an Acclimatization Package or doing as many high altitude hiking and trekking trips as possible.

Gulliver Expeditions:

“Well-regarded operator offering trekking, climbing, mountain-biking and horseback-riding trips in the Andes.  Excellent prices, daily departures.  Does Cotopaxi, Ilinizas, Quilotoa and more.  Most daytrips cost $30 to $45 per person.  Five- to seven-day Cotopaxi trips with acclimatization programs are based out of its Hostería PapaGayo (p148) and cost $360 to $450 and $500 respectively.”

Hosteria PapaGayo:

“This stunningly converted, 150-year-old farmhouse is the perfect base for acclimatizing, climbing and trekking in and around the Ilinizas, Cotopaxi and nearby Corazón. The hotel offers both dorm beds and private rooms, making it an excellent budget option for cash-strapped climbers.  Rooms are straightforward but colorful, some have private bathrooms, and some even have fireplaces.  It boasts an excellent restaurant, a bar and a sort of ‘disco barn’ (haa-aay!) for weekly parties.  There are lots of animals around (outside), and hiking and climbing information (inside).  Tours, guides and horseback riding can be arranged.  It’s 500m west of the Panamericana and about 2km north of the El Chaupi turn-off (or 1km south of the Machachi toll booth).  Bus drivers know the spot.”
